The Popular Movement Archive in Västerbotten
The Popular Movement Archive in Västerbotten is a county archive with assignment to collect and store documents from associations and social movements in the county of Västerbotten. Our archives and offices are situated in both Umeå and Skellefteå. Altogether we store material from about 10 000 records creators of over 6000 linear meters, which makes the archive into the largest popular movement and association archives in Sweden.
The Popular Movement Archive holds documents from the traditional social movements, labor- and trade union movements, the free church, athletic societies, the temperance movements and the cooperative, but also a vast collection of material from the fields of adult education, culture and leisure, as well as village archives, family- and personal archives.
Our research room is open to the public weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
